Rust Belt Chic Graffiti
This past Friday was the launch party for BELT; I was so pumped to attend! I love any excuse to get snazzed-up and I had some fun with this outfit. I was going for an industrial Cleveland chic vibe and, if I say so myself, nailed it; industrial accessories, add a flash of shine with the metal heeled stilettos and a sparkle clutch and I was good to go! As an initial backer and a lifetime member I opted for a t-shirt and the book for my ‘supporter swag’, sweet stuff! If you haven’t checked out the site or explored a membership, do it.
When I received my t-shirt and tried it on, well, let’s just say I looked like I should have been in 7th grade gym class; banded collar that was snug around my neck. That collar wasn’t going to stop me from showing my support and I knew it was nothing a sharp pair of scissors, a bowl, a sharpie and good washing couldn’t fix! I traced the arch of the bowl approximately 1 inch from the front neckline and cut away, slowly. I also trimmed the sleeves and bottom just past the factory stitching; I wanted them to have the same treatment as the neckline but not any shorter. I think it turned out quite well; even got a few compliments from the staff at the event!
I try to always have my camera with me for those instances when, like this evening, I stumble upon a wondrous backdrop for a quick shoot! This graffiti mural was just one block from the event location, a forgotten gem which I was more than happy to make its acquaintance.
What gems have you stumbled upon this summer?
Thank you for stopping by, cheers! ~Penny
